Summer
Music Cruise
If you are in Boston and
find yourself yearning for some sun and
water, consider taking one of the summer
music cruises offered by the Bay State
Cruise Company.
What to Expect
Don't be deceived by the word
"cruise" - the vessel we took
certainly was not the Love Boat. The
cruise is more of a ferry-style ride,
proceeding at a leisurely pace. The
entertainment was fun, but the true
enjoyment of the activity comes from
being on the water and seeing the lights
from the city at night. It was a nice
escape from the city and a chance to feel
the ocean breeze.
In case the sea air helps
you work up an appetite, there is a small
snack bar on the lower level that sells
chips and pretzels as well as alcoholic
and nonalcoholic beverages. Prices run
high but are not outrageous.
Cruise Schedule and
Prices
Planning your trip
is a snap: tickets can be purchased on
the day of travel at the waterfront.
Bay State Cruise Company
offers a variety of other ervices
including ferry rides to Provincetown, as
well as chartered tours. Visit their web site for
hours, prices, reservations, directions
and other information.
More Cruises
If you enjoy a summer music cruise, you
may also want to consider another
regional boat ride. We recommend a serene
tour along the winding, placid waters of
the Cape Ann marine estuary. Just 30
miles north of Boston, in the picturesque
harbor of Essex, an historic shipbuilding
center, you will find Essex
River Cruises,
which offers 90 minute tours aboard the Essex
River Queen II.
