The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology
11 Divinity Avenue
Cambridge
617-496-1027

This museum is one of the world's first anthropological museums (founded in 1866). The museum, its libraries and an endowed professorship were the gifts of philanthropist George Peabody, whose nephew Othniel Charles Marsh was professor of geology. The permanent collection has an emphasis on Native American culture, but there are a wide variety of special exhibits that highlight cultures around the world.

How to Get There
From the Harvard Square subway stop, walk through Harvard Yard and go past the Science Center and Memorial Hall. At Quincy Street, turn left. At the end of the street, turn right and quickly turn left on Divinity Avenue.

Parking is very limited in this neighborhood, so unless you relish driving around and around the block, consider parking in one of the Harvard Square lots or garages and walking across Harvard Yard.

For More Info...
For hours, admission fees, and details about current displays, visit the museum's main
web site.

Note that the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology is connected to the Harvard Museum of Natural History and that admission to one also grants entrance to the other.
