What You Will See
Founded in 1976 with a mission to interpret African American life and culture, the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) is full of arts, crafts and other exhibits that tell the story of what it is like to be African-American in the United States -- in the past and today.

Getting There
The museum is in Philadelphia's historic district, one block from Independence National Historic Park and a short walk from the Philadelphia Convention Center. SEPTA buses #17, 33 and 47 stop at the museum's corner.

There is a parking lot of Arch Street directly behind the museum. Additional lots are nearby. If you are lucky, you may also take advantage of metered parking on the streets surrounding the museum.
