Alaina Alexander, 24, is from West, Hollywood, CA. She says she was singing before she could talk. Alaina, who is a fan of Mariah Carey, had no formal music training growing up but says she did sing in the high school choir for one year. Alaina also writes songs.

When did you first start to sing?

Mom said I started singing before talking.

Do you have any formal singing training?

I did choir in high school for one year.

What other talents do you have?

I’m also a songwriter and I can burp really good.

If you don’t make it on AMERICAN IDOL, what will you do?

Maybe go to school, I don’t really know.

What are your personal goals in life?

To be happy, healthy and live life to its fullest.

What album would your friends be surprised you own?

Michael Bublé

My mama

Do you have any rituals or things you do each time before you perform?

Jump up and down and say a prayer.

Most embarrassing moments?

Every time I fall in front of people gets me embarrassed. I’m clumsy.

What has been your proudest moment in life so far?

Making it this far on the show.

If you couldn’t sing, which talent would you most like to have?

A photographic memory. I can’t retain info very well when it comes to books.

What is your definition of AMERICAN IDOL?

Honest, humble and talented.

Who is your favorite judge and why?

Simon ‘cause he keeps it real.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I’m pretty mellow.

How has this changed your life?

Well nothing too crazy has happened yet.

A guitar charm necklace KT my best friend got me.

Who are your heroes in life?

My mom and boyfriend.

What’s been your toughest obstacle in life?

Getting over insecurities.

Do you think the audition process was fair?

I don’t think a lot of it was fair, but life in general isn’t really fair.

If you win, who will you thank first?

My family.
