Ashlee Nicole Simpson was born on October 3, 1984, in Waco, Texas, but was raised in Dallas. She's the daughter of Joe and Tina Simpson, and the younger sister of pop star/reality TV queen Jessica Simpson. Attending Prairie Creek Elementary School, Ashlee's talent was apparent early on: at age 4 she started dancing and by the time she was 11 she was admitted into the prestigious School of American Ballet, the youngest person in that school's history.

When Ashlee was 14, she began to dance professionally, and the Simpson family moved to Los Angeles. Not long after, Ashlee went on the road, dancing as part of her sister's stage show. She supported Jessica's rise to fame from 1999 to 2001, all the while dreaming of acting and even pursuing her own music career.

Simpson rose to prominence in mid-2004 through the success of her number-one debut album “Autobiography” and the accompanying reality series “The Ashlee Simpson Show.” Simpson received widespread derision when she used a pre-recorded vocal track for a performance on “Saturday Night Live” in October 2004. Following a North American concert tour and a film appearance, Simpson released a second number-one album, “I Am Me,” in late 2005.

Simpson reportedly had plastic surgery for a nose job in April 2006; tabloid magazines and blogs have published pictures that claim to demonstrate the change in her nose. When asked about it in an interview in May, Simpson neither confirmed nor denied it. There have also been claims that Simpson had chosen to surgically enhance her lips and to reduce her chin. In June 2006, it was reported that Simpson seriously considered but later turned down a $4 million offer to pose nude for the magazine “Playboy”.

In early September 2006, “Us Weekly” reported that Simpson and Braxton Olita had split up. Simpson's rep said that the couple “broke up about a week ago. They have decided to take a break.” Simpson has reportedly been seen with Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, but denied it later in an interview with “OK!” magazine.
