Chris Sligh, 28, is from Greenville, SC. He started singing in high school and majored in Vocal Performance in college. He is married and says his proudest moment in life so far was his wedding day. Chris Sligh was lead singer for a band before trying out for American Idol. Chris says his goal is to own a record label someday.

Favorite male pop artists?

Freddie Mercury, Ben Folds, Adam Duritz, Paul McCartney, Paul Meany, Jon Forman, Blake Lewis, Rudy Cardenas

Favorite female pop artists?

Sheryl Crow, Imogen Heap, Fiona Apple, Gina Glocksen

When did you first start to sing?

High school.

Do you have any formal singing training?

Yes-3 credits shy of degree in vocal performance.

What other talents do you have?

Songwriter, great kisser, basketball, production.

If you don’t make it on AMERICAN IDOL, what will you do?

Travel with my band.

What are your personal goals in life?

To own a record label and produce # 1 records.

What album would your friends be surprised you own?

Backstreet Boys-Black & Blue.

Who is your AMERICAN IDOL?

Besides me-Bo Bice or Blake Lewis.

Do you have any rituals or things you do each time before you perform?

Not really-I pee before going on stage.

Most embarrassing moments?

None, really—I don’t get embarrassed.

What has been your proudest moment in life so far?

Wedding day.

If you couldn’t sing, which talent would you most like to have?

Acting.

What is your definition of AMERICAN IDOL?

Someone who can make great music.

Who is your favorite judge and why?

Simon—he’s my Yin AND Yang.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I’m chubby.

How has this changed your life?

It hasn’t yet, except to make me poorer b/c of taking off so much work.

Do you have any lucky charms?

Yes, they’re magically delicious.

Who are your heroes in life?

Jesus, my dad, Adam Duritz, Jon Forman.

What’s been your toughest obstacle in life?

Not listening to music growing up.

Do you think the audition process was fair?

Yes.

My wife for her amazing sacrifices.
