Otep Shamaya: Singer, Activist, Actress, Writer, is best known for her role as vocalist and namesake of the band OTEP. She made her debut in 2000 and released the full length albums Sevas Tra, House of Secrets, and the Ascension in June 2002, July 2004, and October 2007 respectively. She is easily distinguished by her heavy screaming, gritty lyrical elements, spoken word, and is also one of the few well-known female vocalists in the metal scene that effectively uses guttural growls.

Shamaya has authored two poetry books, Little Sins and Caught Screaming, which are exclusively sold on Lulu.com.

Otep Shamaya is also making a name for herself outside of music and poetry. She has filmed segments for several top-rated TV shows, including HBO's "DEF POETRY," Bravo's "DATE MY EX" and most recently TLC' show "L.A. Ink."
