Rudy Cardenas was born in Venezuela, grew up in Denver, and currently lives in North Hollywood, CA. He says he started singing at 3 years and 2 months and 16 days old. Before auditioning for American Idol, Rudy was singing with a group called M-Pact. He is married. Rudy Cardenas, who has a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, also plays the piano and the saxophone. He enjoys playing sports in his free time.

When did you first start to sing?
I was 3 years and 2 months and 16 days old. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Do you have any formal singing training?
Yes, I've been lucky to have some great teachers.
What other talents do you have?
I play the sax and piano, Texas Hold 'Em, golf, basketball, tennis, football…oh wait, did you mean good talents?
If you don’t make it on AMERICAN IDOL, what will you do?
Continue my musical career with my group M-Pact.
What are your personal goals in life?
To unconditionally love my wife, family, friends and myself. To put out real, inspired, smart music.
What album would your friends be surprised you own?
Michael Bolton.
Who is your AMERICAN IDOL?
Chris Sligh, Blake Lewis, and Michael Bolton.
Do you have any rituals or things you do each time before you perform?
I breathe and think about my wife.

You don't want to know.
What has been your proudest moment in life so far?
She said “yes.”
If you couldn’t sing, which talent would you most like to have?
Quarterback for the Denver Broncos.
What is your definition of AMERICAN IDOL?
Anyone who is true to themselves.
Who is your favorite judge and why?
Randy because he is an incredible bass player.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I'm afraid of heights and hate cauliflower.

My parents.

Stereotypes and racism.
