Picasso's Guernica gets health check

A close-up detail showing a small crack, top, in the canvas of Pablo Picasso masterpiece Guernica, depicting the Nazi German bombing of Guernica is seen in Spain's Reina de Sofia museum in Madrid Tuesday July 22, 2008. The diagnosis of the first X-ray taken of Picasso's 20th century's emblematic, anti-war opus carried out by Reina Sofia art museum, shows that "Guernica" has suffered a lot, it needs special care but it's health is not in any danger. The X-ray of the large-format canvas, 3.5-meter by 7.8-meter (11 ft. by 25 ft.) forms the basis of a series of tests begun over a year ago on the masterpiece, revealing "its makeup, the colors and the damage it has suffered," Reina Sofia director Manuel Borja-Villel told The Associated Press in an interview this week.
