Chaz Steps Out for Creative Arts Emmys

Chaz Bono's documentary Becoming Chaz was nominated for a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Nonfiction Special and the new ballroom warrior took a break from his grueling rehearsals to spend some time with his girlfriend Jennifer Elia at the award show on Saturday.

"It's been an honor to be nominated," said a humble Chaz on the red carpet. "I did this to really try to help people and to come away with an award on top of it would be amazing."

The documentary is about Chaz's journey to having the body that he always felt that he should have.

Although he didn't go home with the statuette (that went to Ridley and Tony Scott's Gettysburg), the Dancing with the Stars contestant could still come away with the coveted mirror ball trophy when the new season returns Monday, September 19 on ABC.

"I'm feeling a little sore today," said Chaz, who admitted that he has become more nervous as the premiere date approaches. "It's a lot but I'm having fun."

Notable winners of the Creative Arts Emmys included Steve Buscemi's old-school gangster show, Boardwalk Empire, which lead the award show with seven statuettes while its network, HBO, garnered 15 awards total.

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series went to Gwyneth Paltrow for her time on Glee. Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series went to Justin Timberlake for his hosting duties on Saturday Night Live. And the title of Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program was given to Jeff Probst for the fourth year in a row for CBS' Survivor.
