Are Sanjaya Critics Too Harsh?

Paula, Randy, Ryan, and Simon aren't the only permanent fixtures routinely featured on each season of American Idol.

Oh no. With each passing episode towards music's next big thing, on the world's highest rated TV program, there's at least one AI contestant with about as much vocal range as a small fish.

And what's even more fascinating is the fact that the jolly, dancing, vocally-challenged contestant of the season seems to be the person with the strongest staying power.

With that in mind, allow us to introduce the what-the-heck-are-you-still-doing-here contestant of American Idol, Sanjaya Malakar.

Eternal diva Diana Ross herself exclaimed "Sanjaya is love." The Indian-American teenager from Washington State has single-handedly left half of America in awe of the fact that he hasn't been sent on the next thing smoking back to the Land of Evergreens.

His immaculate Press-N-Curl could have something to do with it. Or maybe it's the lure of watching his big sister's bouncing rack cheering from the confines of the studio audience. A future Hooters waitress is always a crowd pleaser.

More than a symbol of a severe glitch in the American Idol voting system, Sanjaya Malakar represents the perils of reality television when real people forget that reality series have more to do with ratings than they do reality.

Face it, when a chick who looks like she rarely misses any meals is threatening a hunger strike until this kid is sent packing, Idol fans are in need of a serious reality check.

Are Sanjaya critics being too harsh, or is it time for this hair maven to go?
