Jamie Lynn Spears developed a life-threatening emergency
medical condition that forced doctors to perform a
Caesarean section, The National Enquirer has learned
exclusively.
Don Gentile and Lynn Allison wrote
the story for the tabloid.
Jamie Lynn's alarming condition was revealed
by a sonogram, and could have caused her and
the new born to bleed to death,
insiders told The Enquirer.
'The sonogram also showed the baby was
in the breech position - and might have a
disfiguring cleft palate, according to sources.
"Jamie Lynn was sick with worry.
It was a lot for a 17-year old to handle."
Said an insider.
The worst news was that jamie Lynn had a potentially
fatal condition known as marginal placenta previa,
where part of the placenta extends to the mother's cervix.
"It's a walking time bomb,"
Dr. Cheryl Perlis, a board certified gynecologist
and obstetrician told The Enquirer.
"There is a strong chance that both the mother
and baby will hemorrhage and bleed out."
Jamie Lynn's baby had turned in the womb and
was in the breech position with its feet first.
She was also told the child might be born with
a cleft palate, but she wouldn't know for sure
until the baby was born.
"Jamie Lynn was panicking,"
divulged the insider.
With the placenta problem and the baby in
the breech position, doctors scheduled a Caesarean
section for June 19, 10 days before her actual due date
.
Even though there is a possibility of having a
natural birth when there is marginal placenta previa,
if there is any sign of bleeding, a C-section should be performed,"
Said Dr. Perlis.
"Also, if the baby is in the breech position
it should not be delivered vaginally."
Early in the morning of her 6 a.m. C-section,
Jamie Lynn left the Spears' family estate in
Kentwood, La,, with a full support team - her mom Lynne,
brother Bryan and fiance Casey Aldridge.
The group arrived at southwest Mississippi Regional
Medical Center in McComb, Mississippi at 4 a.m.
Jamie Lynn checked in and was taken
to a fourth floor private room.
