One day prior to the 80th Annual Academy Awards, the stars aligned in Santa Monica to celebrate the top indie films of the last year at the Film Indepedent Spirit Awards -- and "The Insider"'s CHERYL WOODCOCK was there!
"The Office" funnyman RAINN WILSON emceed the event, which was attended by celebs including ALAN ARKIN, JAVIER BARDEM, JASON BATEMAN, KATE BECKINSALE, CATE BLANCHETT, ZACH BRAFF, MATT DILLON, JOSH HARTNETT, DENNIS QUAID and FOREST WHITAKER.
'Juno' took home the year's best independent film award, as well as a best actress nod for the film's now 21-year-old star ELLEN PAGE, who played a pregnant teen in the comedy. (Scribe DIABLO CODY also won the award for best first screenplay.)
PHILIP SEYMORE HOFFMAN won for best actor in the sibling dramedy 'The Savages,' while best directing honors went to JULIAN SCHNABEL for his drama 'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.'
As we previously reported, CATE BLANCHETT (winner of the best supporting actress award) and others paid tribute to the late HEATH LEDGER during their acceptance speeches. Also, BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE (with baby bump!) put in an appearance, confirming the pregnancy-rumors swirling around them.

Did you think Bruno landing on Eminem at the MTV Movie Awards was comedic or crass?
