The rap mogul “barely made it in” to the Ciroc vodka-sponsored party he hosted at East Hampton hot spot Lily Pond because, by 11 p.m., more than 1,000 clubgoers had already lined up in the parking lot.
“They were blocking Diddy’s grand entrance,” said our source. “He and his entourage arrived with a three-car fleet of Cadillac SUVs and were forced to turn around. He couldn’t even make it close to the front door.”
Staffers eventually got him in through a back entrance, while the music was turned off for 15 minutes and the VIP area was cleared for him, Michael Strahan and Busta Rhymes.
In Bridgehampton, Hollywood mogul Sandy Gallin was throwing a wacky bash at his sprawling estate, where Russell Simmons, Matthew Broderick, Brooke Shields, Matt Lauer, Mary J. Blige, Jon Bon Jovi, Jerry Seinfeld and Richard Gere partied until the wee hours.
“They were serving strange brownies,” cackled our spy. “Half the people there were wrecked. They weren’t making any sense, and people were laughing at inappropriate comments.”
Meanwhile, the elder generation of the Forbes family gave way to the clan’s youngsters. Miguel Forbes took the Highlander, the Forbes yacht that traditionally cruises New York harbor under the fireworks, on an eight-hour cruise to Sag Harbor, where a few hundred guests came aboard for champagne, caviar and dancing. Miguel and at least two other grandchildren of the late Malcolm Forbes played host to supermodel Elle Macpherson, who seemed to be on the prowl, and plumbing fixture magnate Herb Kohler, who flew in from Raleigh, NC, where he’d helped Kevin Costner celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Bull Durham.”
