In day four of Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook's divorce trial, a court-appointed psychiatrist recommended that both need therapy, according to the New York Post and court proceedings.

Dr. Stephen P. Herman, a forensic and clinical child and adult psychiatrist who has seen both Christie and Peter, as well as their kids, took the stand yesterday morning. He testified that Peter's behavior could've been compulsive and that he would allegedly watch pornography every day, but said there was no evidence that he was a pedophile.

The doc told the court that he believes Christie should get custody of her and Peter's two young children. However, he suggested that both needed to engage in therapy sessions.

He said Christie needs therapy as "an outlet for her anger and feeling of betrayal," according to the Associated Press.

The psychiatrist also said Peter is a "narcissist" who "needs constant reassurance that he is a terrific guy."

The doctor also addressed Peter's affair with Diana Bianchi, calling it bad judgment on Peter's part. The doctor also suggested the kids remain in treatment.

Christie is back on the stand being cross-examined by Peter's attorney, where she is testifying to what she believes is his addiction not only to sex but also to risk taking in general, including driving fast -- even with the kids in the car.

  • I am glad counseling is being recommended for everyone. Especially the parents. Christie is a loving mother but kind of nieve. I mean you meet the guy for 5 months and you give him your son...to trusting. Peter is a classic narrsist and they are dangerous people. They are classifed as sociapathic and it's a psychological disorder. As for Billy Joel he needs to have a little sit down with Peter re: he bucket incident with Alexa. The parts of the story when Christie allows Peter to get rough with the kids allowing meaning not tossing him out to the on property camp ground. I have a problem with that. Those are her kids she needed to protect Jack and Alexa the most.

  • And so the guy who cheats on his wife repeatedly, watches porn on line everyday is supposed to now be a stand-up, wonderful and attentive father deserving of sole custody? An how does the mother's being angry require therapy? The only therapy needed is getting rid of the philanderer and being able to raise her children in a wholesome environment. Quacks who suck the life out of parents and kids in the courtroom need to be eliminated from the process. It doesn't take a psychologist to know who is doing the primary parenting and stop splitting kids apart like CD collections. Let them have one primary home base for gawd's sake.
