NEW YORK (AP) - Weeks after giving birth to daughter Maddie Briann, Jamie Lynn Spears is showing off the newborn, sharing memories of a "perfect" delivery and longing to be a Southern soccer mom.

Spears and fiance Casey Aldridge welcomed Maddie at a hospital in McComb, Miss., on June 19. The younger sister of Britney Spears poses with her on the cover of OK! magazine — as expected, given the fact that Spears announced her pregnancy through an article in OK! and reportedly was to receive a large payday for exclusive pictures of the baby.

The photos were taken at the pair's Louisiana home. The magazine does not comment on the terms of its deals with celebrities.

In an interview with OK!, the 17-year-old Jamie Lynn said she had been nervous about giving birth "but it all fell into place. I was right on schedule. I had a perfect pregnancy and a perfect delivery. I was very blessed."

Jamie Lynn said watching Aldridge, a pipe-layer from Liberty, Miss., hold Maddie for the first time "was the coolest thing. ... He was so happy, and that made me the happiest person alive."

Jamie Lynn's immediate family — including big sister Britney — where there for the birth, though Aldridge was the only one allowed in the delivery room.

"It was such a big day," she said. "And being able to have your sister there, your whole family there, meant a lot. Everybody flew in to celebrate."

Lynne Spears, already grandmother to Britney's young sons, told the magazine: "You never remember how little they are, and then you hold them. I purred like a kitten, and I remember saying, 'Jamie Lynn, she's so beautiful.'"

Jamie Lynn thinks Maddie takes after daddy.

"As much as I'd like her to look like me — I just carried her for nine months — she looks like Casey! He reminds me of it every day," she said.

Jamie Lynn said Maddie sleeps in a bassinet by the couple's bed because she's "not ready to put her (in the nursery) all the way across the house."

She said Lynne Spears is a hands-on grandma.

"Mama has been here a bunch," she said. "She wants to see the baby all the time. She told me the doctors are always going to be real strict and tell you, 'Don't do this and don't do that.' Just follow your instincts. You're the mother and you know what your baby needs. That's what I've done and it seems to have worked."

Jamie Lynn, who recently starred on the Nickelodeon sitcom "Zoey 101," said she plans to raise Maddie down South where "the focus is family."

"I would love being the soccer mom," she said. "They don't have soccer down here, but I would love being the softball mom driving the kids around."

  • From Jamie Lynn going with a grown man to the Gloucester teen pregnancy pact--is there anything tackier and lower class than teens so bankrupt in their imaginations, that the only thing they can think of to do to validate their existence after only a few years on the planet--is to do the nasty and have babies?!!!!!!

So sad. Babies and the act of creating them and planning for them, should be a well thought out and planned process--preferably occurring AFTER the couple has grown up, got an education, saw the world, understood the cultural and social impacts of being on earth and are mature enough to share it with their offspring. Only animals should instantly pro create once their plumbing is mature--because they only have a short time to live and their lives are governed by instinct and chance.

Humans require emotional and mental maturity as well as physical--because though the body may be capable of reproducing; our complex society underlines that a lot more growing up should occur to give both parents and kids the best chance at successful survival.

  • It is a sad and shame to see this kind of role model for the young women out there. This kind of behavior should be condemn instead of praised like this. What about college, travel the world, grow and mature into a real woman!

  • We're all supposed to be happy and warm inside because a teenager was too stupid to have protection? This is pathetic.....

  • So go be a soccer mom. You certainly weren't much of an actress and if your last name wasn't Spears, you would never have had the opportunities you had. Too bad some talented teen was denied the opportunity you had when you were handed a job you didn't even want.

  • "Longs to be a soccor mom" How does someone this young really know what they want? This is a disgusting promotion of teen, premarital sex.

  • Come to think of it though, it wasn't that long ago that girls a few years younger than her were starting families where she grew up. In the 1930's, she would be considered an old maid at her age.

  • Since she is underage how come they haven't arrested her boyfriend for statutory rape yet? Oops-I forgot celebrities don't have to obey the law.

  • What a pathetic role model for teenagers. They should have removed every trace of Jamie Lynn Spears from television, but instead the corporate media treat it as if it is a wonderful thing.

  • This illiterate cuntlet's own mother said, "Just follow your instincts. You're the mother and you know what your baby needs..."

This immature twathole probably thinks babies are to be taken care of by Nannies and Grannies - while she couples indiscriminately with the other denizens "...down South, where the focus is family."
