Jolie has given birth to twins, a boy and a girl, in a French Riviera hospital her doctor confirmed, according to the “Nice Matin” daily newspaper on Sunday (July 13).
“I hope it all goes well. I hope the family will continue to grow,” said Elena, a local resident in Nice.
The local newspaper from Nice said Doctor Michel Sussmann at the Lenval hospital, where the actress has been on bed rest since Sunday June 29th, confirmed the news to the paper giving details of the birth including that Jolie had one boy weighing 2.27 kg (5 lbs) born at 645pm locally and one girl
at 2.28kg (5 lbs) born at 7pm locally on Saturday (July 12).
Tourists in Nice said they were delighted to hear the news and happy to share the town of the family choice for the birth.
“I’m happy for them. It must have been a wonderful occasion. It always is when to have a baby no matter who you are,” said Christian Meyer, an American tourist visiting from Colorado.
Sussmann was quoted as saying that the babies and mother and father were doing well and that the boy had already been named Knox Leon and the girl Vivienne Marcheline.
“This is what they wanted. This is what they were dreaming about,”
Jolie’s partner Brad Pitt had been visiting the hospital almost daily and was present during the caesarean operation, according to the article. The hospital was due to announce the latest news on its website but it had not yet confirmed the reports of the local
newspaper.
The birth extends the Jolie and Pitt family to six children and there are report that the couple is considering an additional adoption in the near future.
The couple have reportedly sold the first photos of their newly born babies to an american publication for 11 million dollars.
