Russell Crowe dishes on Tennyson's name and why his wife is "universally hated"

In better-late-than-never news, a repeat of Live with Regis and Kelly with Russell Crowe was on today. The episode originally aired in November when Russell was promoting his film A Good Year. Russell briefly mentioned his second son Tennyson Spencer, now nearly 9 months, and how he and his wife Danielle Spencer picked his name.

The Oscar winner says the couple had experimented with a multitude of names before Danielle suggested Tennyson.

...She committed to number of other names during the course of the period of time. 'Do you like this one?' So you gotta embrace it enthusiastically, 'Yes, love, absolutely!' And a month later, she goes, 'No, I would never consider that, here's another name. ' We went through that a few times and she came up the idea of Tennyson and because I'm interested, I asked her, 'What does it mean?'

Danielle told her husband the name meant "the second born son of a great father figure," peaking Russell's interest.

I said, 'Really?' And she said, 'No, it means "Dennis' son."'

As he has previously revealed, Russell found an early sonnet of Alfred, Lord Tennyson's that he and his wife adored, which cemented their choice in the name. Later, he said, the two discovered that Danielle had an uncle named Tennyson, giving even more meaning to it.

And although Tennyson weighed in at 8 lbs. at birth, Danielle was able to do something soon afterwards that would leave anyone envious.

She put her own jeans back on 12 days after birth. She's universally hated around the world.

The couple also has another son, Charlie Spencer, 3.
