After shattering records in the U.S., 'The Dark Knight' takes London by storm and the Insider is there on the red carpet.
Christian Bale, who plays the title role in the latest Batman installment, said that while he was somewhat surprised at the movie's record-breaking success, the reaction shows the film truly measures up to the hype.
Others at the premiere, including Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Michael Caine, also expressed surprise and excitement at the records.
Eckhart said he thinks one of the reasons for the huge level of interest is that people are anxious to see the performance of the late Heath Ledger.
‘The Dark Knight’ shattered the previous record for a weekend opening by making an estimated $158.4 million, beating the $151.1 earned by 'Spider-Man 3' in May 2007, Warner Bros. confirmed.
