Christian Bailed?

Is Caped Crusader Christian Bale out of custody? Scotland Yard tells ET that a 34-year-old man has just been released on bail and will return to court in September. Sky News quotes sources as saying Bale, 34, was arrested and questioned by British police earlier today. He was allegedly accused of assault by his own mother and sister the day before the London premiere of the latest Batman phenomenon 'The Dark Knight.' 

Britain's Press Association reports his 61-year-old mother and 40-year-old sister filed a complaint with police yesterday, alleging that Bale lashed out at them Sunday night at a London hotel.

People.com reports that Bale was driven by a 10-man police escort today from London's Belgravia police station and transported to the Dorchester Hotel, the same hotel where the alleged incident occurred. 

Earlier Scotland Yard did not name Bale, confirming only that: “We have a 34-year-old man in custody at a central London police station. He was arrested after attending the police station by appointment. The arrest is in connection with an allegation of assault.”

"The Insider" has also learned that Christian was hours late to his scheduled interviews today in London, but we are told he may still attend the press junket. The entire cast of 'The Dark Knight' is scheduled to be in Barcelona, Spain on Wednesday for a premiere, followed by the Japanese premiere on July 28.
