"The Insider" has Christian Bale's first comments on his mom and sister's alleged assault allegations. In a press conference today in Barcelona, he said it's a "deeply personal matter."

But was the alleged family feud over cash?

A new bombshell report in today's Daily Mail says the alleged altercation was over money.

The Daily Mail claims his sister Sharon Bale asked her brother for $200,000 to help raise her three children. Christian allegedly was not keen on the idea, sparking the alleged argument between Bale and his family.

A source told the British paper, "Things just got out of control and he now says he wishes he just left the room. Normally Christian would just call a friend and go out to a pub to cool off. ... But he was literally trapped by an army of paparazzi and fans outside."

Christian has denied the assault claim.

  • I really don't think that Christian Bale would assualt his mom and sister over "money issues." To tell you the truth I think his mom and sister made the whole thing up just to get money from him.. So much for family love.. I love you Christian Bale!!

  • To some of the comments above, numerous articles and sources have already stated that in fact the incident was a verbal dispute with little or no physical involvement. In the UK verbal confrontation can be held as assault. However, had it been physical indeed I would have agreed with you. But there is no evidence of any physical violence what so ever, thus to bring the accusation of battery to Mr. Bale is not only inaccurate, but also irresponsible on your part. The Media has already blown up this story to the level where the simple fact as I quoted above has not even been mentioned. The headlines lead unquestioning readers like yourself to accuse and judge this person of battery, when really it was a heated family dispute involving both sides. Having dealt with domestic violence, I know for a fact that sensationalizing this story, as your comment and the media appears to be doing, is also irresponsible. Ultimately it is a family matter, the severity with which the police has reacted to it has been equal to the severity of what happened (which is little if nothing at all). Most of all, I think we should leave this mild mannered actor in peace, and let him sort out his family affairs with himself and hopefully find a resolution.
