'Lord of the Rings' Star Allegedly Arrested

'Lord of the Rings' star Sean Bean allegedly was arrested on suspicion of assault at his home in North London Thursday night and taken to the police station, according to the London Daily Mail. The allegation was allegedly made by his wife, Georgina Sutcliffe, to whom he has only been married for four months.

The 49-year-old actor, who played Boromir, denied the allegations, according to the Daily Mail and is said to claim it was simply a domestic row that had gotten out of hand. He was released after his wife subsequently dropped the charges and no further action is pending.

Sutcliffe told the paper, "'Everything is okay. Sean and I are at home together enjoying the sunshine.' ... 'He was arrested. Everything was blown out of proportion. ... 'The police held him quite a while but Sean is fine and I am fine. There is no problem between us.'"

Bean's alleged assault comes only days after Christian Bale's mom and sister leveled alleged assault allegations against him, allegations which Bale has denied.
