"My goal on this picture was just to be committed to not hurting myself in any way," says Brendan about his third go-around with the hugely successful, action-packed 'Mummy' franchise. "It just toughened me up; I needed to have some appreciation for what it really means to get punched in the head."
'Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' casts martial arts star Jet Li as the title character, a ruthless Chinese ruler who is cursed by a double-crossing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh) into an eternal slumber along with his 10,000 soldier-turned-terra cotta army. When Brendan's character is forced to awaken them, the fate of the world once again hangs in the balance!
"The fight between Jet and Michelle is very balletic," says director Rob Cohen. "A huge battle is raging around them while they're going mano-a-mano with the Wushu [style]."
Wushu, a Chinese term that literally means "martial arts," plays heavily in the action scenes of the movie, which travels from the streets of Shanghai to the peaks of the Himalayan mountains. But Brendan had to fight more "Rick O'Connell" style opposite his Asian enemies, so he used Krav Maga.
"Krav maga is a system of body motions that are based on natural instinct; block, counter-attack," he explains.
