A judge has dismissed several claims on both sides of Rob Lowe's legal battle with former nanny Jessica Gibson, according to People magazine.

The judge dismissed Gibson's retaliation claim against Lowe, and also dismissed four of Lowe's defamation claims against Gibson, ruling that she is protected by laws allowing workers to protest working conditions.

Lowe's attorney Larry Stein told People, "We didn't lose anything today. I'm delighted with the dismissal we won, and in essence, our lawsuit against Gibson remains totally intact."

On the other hand, Gibson's attorney, Gloria Allred, told People, "This is a huge victory for us today."

On April 7, Rob and his wife Sheryl filed lawsuits against three former employees: Gibson, former nanny Laura Boyce and a former chef named Peter Clements. One week later, on April 14, Gibson filed her own lawsuit against the Lowes, and Boyce later filed a suit as well. The suit the Lowes filed against Clements was dismissed in May.
