Bernie Mac being treated for pneumonia in a Chicago hospital.
The 'Ocean's Thirteen' star is "responding well" to treatment for the
inflammatory illness of the lung, despite reports he was in a "very
critical" condition.
When asked whether the reports were true, Mac's representative Danica Smith
replied: "You have some bad information. Mr. Mac is responding well to
treatment and will be released soon.
"He asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets
well."
The 50-year-old comedian has been suffering from sarcoidosis or
Besnier-Boeck disease, an immune system disorder most often found in the
lungs, since 1983.
However, Smith insists the disease has been in remission since 2005 and has
nothing to do with Mac's most recent hospitalisation.
As well as starring in 'Ocean's Thirteen', Mac is most well known for
starring in 'The Bernie Mac Show' - a role which earned him nominations for
two Emmy awards and two Golden Globes.
