See More... Eva Mendes' new commercial for the Calvin Klein perfume "Secret Obsession" has been deemed so risque that U.S. television networks won't air it, says New York's Daily News.

The uncut ad, which contains a peek-a-boo flash of Eva's nipple as she writhes around topless on a bed, will titillate only on TVs abroad. A sanitized version will run in the U.S. on cable, says the Daily News.

"We believe the commercial is exceptional and hits the mark for Secret Obsession," Calvin Klein prez and COO Tom Murry said, adding that the network ban is "not entirely a surprise for the U.S. market."

  • What's wrong with seeing a nipple? If it's OK to see a mans nipple, then it should be OK to see a womans as well. I like it!

  • She’s so pretty. I love her smile very much. A few days ago, I saw her at the rich dating club " !!! .sugardaddyconnect . c o m " she posted a nice profile there. Seems she is looking for a nice guy for serious relationships.

  • What is wrong with you American's? I mean this is 2008. You are to much puritan. What's the problem with showing a beautiful body on TV when it's only a small part of a nipple that is visible. Norway

    • Well since we do not censor any violence we have to censor sexuality, I guess it's just how censorship balanced out here.

  • I don't dispute the fact that Eva is beautiful and would be great for selling this product. Marketing perfume can be a delicate matter, how do you do it? Well, it seems the most creative way appears to always be with half naked men or women, how original. In this instance I believe it shows a lack of creativity on Fabien Baron's part who was the creative director. As far as marketing goes, every country and culture should be respected . I personally do not think it to be a universally accepted advertising campaign. I don't want to see her nipples and don't think nipples sell perfume. Try again Calvin Klein.

  • Oh My Gosh!!! A nipple!!!! We're all going to burn!!!
Typical of the double standards here, we cant see a beautiful woman's body, but if she was beheaded, shot, stabbed with a knife or something, it'd be just another CSI episode.

  • i think it is funny if you look at the violence that is allowed in the US in media but you look at how sexuality is deemed negative. Compared to Europe in which sexuality is natural and violence is treated more harshly in media. I think we in the US need to adopt a similar policy when it comes to sexuality and violence.

  • I also think an entire cultural heritage should be dismissed just because I don't agree with it. My way is always right even though there is no justification for believin that.

Bunch of typical euro-trash wankin about what will never be. Grow up Europe.

  • To those citing the irony of how American television allows violence but not sexuality: I heartily agree. And to those citing the double standard of 'hey, we can look at a guy's chest--but oh no, a woman's breasts are off-limits!': I again heartily agree. Censorship in general is lame and unhealthy, but the fact that America desensitizes its people to violence while keeping sex and, to a greater extent, the human body taboo is just stupid.

For the record, I am an American. The FCC is an appointed--not elected!--body. Again, the people of the United States do NOT elect the FCC, they are appointed. Meaning that the odds of them representing the ideas of the public are slim to none, with slim just having been shot in the face by a puritanical tyrant. :)
