See More... Morgan Freeman's friend and business partner Bill Luckett tells "The Insider" the divorce rumors are true, there is a divorce pending between Freeman and his wife of more than 20 years, Myrna Colley-Lee.

Late Sunday night the renowned actor was in a car accident in Mississippi and airlifted to a hospital in Memphis. He is said to be doing well after undergoing surgery Monday to repair damage to his left arm and hand. Morgan was in the car with a female family friend. The divorce surprise comes just days after the accident.

  • She's the one filing for divorce, not him. He was supposedly having an affair, but whether that is true or not is not known. I just think it's pathetic and tasteless to divorce your husband when he was just involved in a car wreck that put him in the hospital, in serious condition, and required a 4 hour surgery. I am completely sure that she has her reasons, but for God's sake, the man could have been killed 2 days ago. The days of sympathy and life long love are dead. No one in this world understands basic ethics.

Marrage is a comitment not a contract of the individuals personall gains. Morgan thank you for giving us your talents and my personall enjoyment of your works. You were given this woman for you to relish, enjoy, and for support.     • The couple have been separated since Dec 2007, so it's not like he was in an accident and all of a sudden his wife is filing for divorce. The news just broke after the accident. The woman in the car with him was reported to be a friend of both of the couple.

  • Why is it that the wife is the one who should stand by him? He was the one creeping and even if they were seperated morgan has moved on prematurely so his wife need not sit by him and his jump off and nurture them to health. That is just foul if the woman was a friend of both morgan and myrna she shouldn't put herself in a place where her intentions could be questioned.

  • Anyone who is being condescending toward Morgan Freeman about him getting a divorce is a tool. Stop being a bible-thumper and realize that marriage doesn't last, sometimes under circumstances that are beyond anyone's control. There are rumors that Morgan Freeman is gay, which makes this good news for him if it's true since he won't have to try and keep running an act, pretending to be straight. Who cares about any of that anyway, he's still alive and The Dark Knight was one of the best movies.

    Everybody else leaving comments making a big deal about his personal life and other tabloid bullcrud can blow off.

    Listen. Marriage has never been inherently special. It was originally a contract designed to gain land and climb up the social hierarchy. Now it's a piece of paper entitling you to one another's life insurance and inheritance.
    Another thing...you can't expect someone to stay in a poor situation, sacrificing their happiness for the sake of someone else. If you would wish that on your lover, even though he or she was miserable, shame on YOU.That's one of the singularly most selfish things ever.
    I won't comment on this affair business. My guess is that not a one of you knows anything about Morgan Freemen, aside from what you desperately suckle from gossip sites. If you actually knew him, you could talk.
    Nevertheless, I do figure that it was a pretty classless move of his wife to call for a divorce so shortly after his injury.

  • Well, I really like him as an actor, but am disappointed that men can't keep from straying. And at 71 he still had to stray from his marriage. On the other hand, what do you do if the attraction is so strong? Maybe the answer is go away for a weekend with your own wife. Just don't know or understand about these things. Ouch!

  • Margan Freeman is one of the greatest actors ever. I've learn to listen and learn from the struggles overcome, by people like him, Harry, Sidney, Maya...."Progressive" elders who have endured much in their generation. He to will meet personal challenges and though it is unfortunate that he is getting a divorce, fans need to understand that his is still just a man who will make mistakes and ask for forgiveness, in the same manner that he will forgive someone....Life is full of joys, pain, and lessons to learn from. I reaspect his privacy - He and his family are in my prayers. If I could I would like to correspond with Mr. Freeman on a business level. I would like to know if he or other celebs have private foundation for helping to educate our youth and college kids. I would like to know how to identify them and appeal to these organizations. I will not cast a stone- as I'm sure Mr. Freeman and his wife are going through their own personal hell. 20 years is half of my life time and most of my adult life. It is sad that the marriage didn't. People come and go in your life for a reason or a season. God is forgiving and life is moving on. People need to continue to think progressively, advance themselves, and help others. In the times of adversity in any situation ...simply pray.   • Morgan was cheating on his wife (the same woman in the car with him doing god-knows-what to him at the time of the crash) with his STEP-GRANDDAUGHTER!!! The National Enquirer (say what you want to say about that RagMag but they are typically right in what they report) is reporting that that affair begain when she was 17 and he was 62!!

    I love him as an Actor and respect his craft, but this is downright disgusting and insestious. He's a dirty old man and I hope his wife takes him for everything he's got.
