VMAs 2008: Video Dance Off! Who Will Nab a Nomination for Best Dancing In a Video?

Can we talk dance? Can we talk Best Dancing In a Video? Can we talk who deserves the VMA nominee? While everyone deserves a nomination in that everyone’s-a-winner way, that’s just not how it works.

Now that the polls are officially closed (sorry — you snooze, you lose, so hope you voted) and we can’t be accused of swaying you with our super persuasive powers, here are a few of our top picks — some likely, others not — for Best Dancing In a Video nominees. May the best moves win.

Oh, and watch FNMTV this Friday to see who the final nominees are.

+ Chris Brown, two-way tie for “Kiss Kiss” and “Forever” — Top of his game, top of our list. And remember this insanity from last year’s VMAs? Household name, y’all!

+ Britney Spears, “Gimme More”“Piece of Me” was more of a social criticism, but we’ll always have a special place in our heart for Britney’s pole patrol.

+ Chromeo, “Fancy Footwork” — Our obsession with the leg-obsessed underdogs continues. Plus, now anyone can two-step!

+ The Pipettes, “Pull Shapes” — More tongue-in-cheek, wink-and-nod instructional dance videos! Loveity loves it!

+ Metro Station, “Shake It” — If you don’t like old-school dancing-in-a-circle, B-boy style, then you probably don’t like America either.

+ Beyonce, “Get Me Bodied (Timbaland Remix Feat. Voltio)” — Never mind that we can’t understand what the hell they’re saying in Spanish. Beyonce’s turning it OUT in, like, 17-inch heels and helicopter hair. Que que?

+ Jennifer Lopez, “Do It Well” — Speaking of heels! And hello? Wasn’t she pregs when she shot this? Damn!

+ Rihanna, “Don’t Stop the Music” — Where is this magical candy shop that’s really a front for a hot-ass club, and can we get on the list?

+ Janet Jackson, “Feedback” — Strangely, ice-cold milk and menstrual blood never seemed so appealing.

+ Metro Station, “Shake It” — If you don’t like videos where people dance in a circle, B-boy style, then you probably don’t like American either, do you?

+ Gnarls Barkley, “Run” — Worth the risk of seizure, nausea, vomiting, sudden urge to gamble compulsively.
