Kathy Stringer at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis confirmed on Thursday that the Oscar winner has been released.
Freeman, 71, was driving in Mississippi's Tallahatchie County late Sunday when the accident occurred. Extracted from the wreck by emergency crews using the jaws of life, the Dark Knight actor was said to be "in good spirits" Monday after being airlifted to the medical facility.
Also on Thursday, Freeman's lawyer confirmed that the actor and his wife since 1984, Myrna Colley-Lee, were divorcing.
Freeman will have to wear a neck brace for six to eight months, according to attorney Bill Luckett, who added: "The doctors have said it will be six months to a year before he plays golf again. He hates that."
