Matt, George and Ben to Party for Barack?

Stars like Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, George Clooney, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow are expected to stand up for Barack Obama at the upcoming Democratic Convention in Denver, the Washington Post says.

The list of celebs and performers reads like a who's who of hip hop and young Hollywood, including the Black Eyed Peas, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Scarlett Johansson, Kanye West and Wyclef Jean. Regular Democratic supporters such as Susan Sarandon and Warren Beatty have also been mentioned. The convention kicks off on August 25 in Denver.

Michelle Obama will be the headline prime-time speaker. Senator Hillary Clinton will do the prime-time speaking honors Tuesday.

  • It makes one wonder... Why are some of the wealthiest people (celebrities) Democrats? I thought Dems were the party of the poor and working class. Guess the celebs know who gives them the most breaks!

  • this is going to be the hippest political convention ever
    • Nah, not really. The hippest was the first rock concert benefitting the Democratic party organized by Warren Beatty with him, Julie Christie, Paul Newman, Barbra Streisand, Simon & Garfunkel (reunited for the occasion) and many, many more big names...
