This fall Nicole Richie is launching an online gift registry that will furnish disadvantaged moms with baby goods, says People magazine. The Web site will arrive courtesy of her and boyfriend Joel Madden’s charity, the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation.

"We take for granted the basic necessities. For some families, it's a serious struggle," Nicole tells the mag. "This is one way to ease the financial burden, and help new babies have a good start in life. We are only working with companies and products that Joel and I would use [with baby Harlow]. We're checking every product out for safety – and all products are BPA-free."

Families in L.A. and NYC will be first to benefit from the registry, before it begins extending its reach within the U.S. and internationally, says People.
