‘The Matrix’ actor would reportedly take a role as a doctor and scientist who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer, according to the Hollywood reporter.

Petersen quit his role as Gil Grissom after a 9-year-run with the TV show.

“Whoever comes in and joins the team after Grissom is going to be a different guy. But the nature of the show and what fans get out of it, that’s not going to change,” said CSI’s executive producer Naren Shankar.
