Former Spice Girls singing icon Melanie Chisholm is confirming she is expecting her very first child. The pop star was rumored to be pregnant after paparazzi photographers caught her wearing a loose-fitting dress to hide her ever growing bump. And now the star, 34, has announced she and her partner of six years, Thomas Starr, are to become first time parents and that they are "very happy" with the news. She writes on her official Web site MelanieC.net, "Well, I can now announce that Tom and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy. "Thank you for all your kindness, good wishes and support (even if it was based on speculation)." Chisholm claims she plans to take time out from her solo career to focus of being a mother, but insists she will soon be back on stage performing very soon. She adds, "I will be taking it easy but am also excited to start writing for an album, I'll need some time off to be a mom but, before you know it, we'll be back." She's the last of the famous Spice Girls to become pregnant.
