  I think this is great, Jennifer does embody everything that Obama is standing up for. He made a great selection, and it also shows everyone what WE look like in reality instead of US seeing what they always look like and value and the same set of sterotypes always in place.

  yeah, I'm certain every designer from here to Europe is sending her select pieces to choose from. I know she's going to dress with class. A little clevage but not over the top. She's matured and hopefully aware of the importance of "THE RIGHT LOOK AND VOICE RANGE" This is more important than AI---Although she received her notority from that show, this moment is very defining. Lets keep her & her temain prayer. Barack hasnt accompolished what he has today by ignoring white AMERICA. She has to sing for everyone. In a perfect world there wouldnt be any critism but thats wishful thinking. I know she' ll do it with tact and grace. Congrulations JHUD

  FINALLY!!!!! Someone has good taste and a good ear for a good voice and not hung up on over the top, burnt out, sellout, big blonde wig wearing, skin bleaching, green eye contact rocking, get on stage and scream to the top of my lungs because I really have no real talent, wearing a bikini top and booty shorts because I have no self-esteem, drenched in sweat while I shake my thing because I have no self-respect looking ass Beyonce.   To the person that said she didnt have the looks. What looks? That young lady is very beautiful and self assured. The problem is she's not a toothpick. She represents how most American women truly look whatever race. Loisten & look @ her talent. She's going to sing to our upcoming PRESIDENT...Which is not a fool to have someone perform @ this amazing function for all to see. She's getting INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE. JHUD knows what its like to have to struggle in life. Obama knows what he's doing. If given this opportunity, who wouldnt take it. She's so talented and down to earth. Her career is going to take off moreso. You're in my prayers JHUD because poeple are either going to love you or not. You should be flattered that people are watching you but more importantly you were chosen to sing because OBAMA sees how driven you are and he admires that.....KEEP YOUR HEAD HIGH

  One last thing....Aside from the facts of being from Chicago, I feel his choice is ery symbolic....She wasnt born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She was someone that had aspirations and goals and they're coming true. I feel in my opinon as well as some of the other comments are correct in assuming his choice was to show how anything is possible with dedication, hard work and determination.
