American Idol's New Judge Talks

"I almost fell off the chair,” the songwriter said, of being approached to join the show. "I'm a little nervous." 

Kara said Idol producers have explained that they are going for  “a new chemistry as well as keeping the old."

So, is she is going to be more of a hardass like Simon, irrelevant like Randy, or incoherent like Paula?

“I’m going to be a straight shooter and say it like I see it and maintain that philosophy. I’m somebody who’s really honest and gives an opinion,” she said. “If I feel I need to be hard, I will be. And if I feel I need to be more nurturing, I will be.”

Sounds more like a Simon to us, which may actually be useful, but could put Kara at odds with the other lady on the panel. Should Paula feel threatened?

“I haven’t spoken to her," Kara said. "I would think she’d be excited.”

Yeah? Ya think? Me, not so much.
