  • Just great - I wanted a consevative but now we get a woman who participated in beauty pageants. Women have been trying to stop the judgements by appearance for years and McCan hands us this. Sheesh!

  • How can all women of the United States relate 2 a beauty queen? Its bad enough that so many young females in America have image issues as is, and 4 McCain 2 feel that Hillary supporters can relate is insulting, Hillary was a strong, fierce, smart, experienced, and opinionated woman. Not 2 mention, Sarah Palin is Pro-life....I thought we had choices.

  • I'm thrilled about McCain picking Sarah Palin for our next VP because she's a "real" fighter for the people and not just someone who makes empty promises like most of people in Washington. I think John McCain truly thought this one out!

This is a very serious thing here and all you want to do is vent anger and self loathing for the people of the earth.

  • More poor judgment on the part of McCain. Although I heard on the radio this a.m. from a lesbian who wanted to vote for the duo because she's "hot." It didn't seem to matter that the woman she was letching after would make sure she did not have any of the rights she deserved and would receive under Obama/Biden. More poor judgment. I only hope the rest of the country has some sense.

I think everyone needs to reserve judgment on her until we see how she performs. He was loyal to his country in vietnam then came back to be unfaithful to his family. All for the money and a young wife (Cindy). He is now being unfaithful to his country by picking a young hot VP, never considering whether or not she is fit to lead or experienced.

  • Governor Palin seems to be a very decent woman, family oriented, with well defined values; however, those values defer greatly from those of most American women. As mothers, we want unnecessary guns banned from the streets- Gov Palin is for them. As women we want to keep our rights over our bodies- Gov Palin is against that, even in the unfortunate case of being raped and knocked up by a rapist. I must hand it to her: she is a good looking woman, seems to be a good wife and mother, has so far done a good job as a governor, but she does not have the experience necessary to lead this country. She would have probably been a good VP running mate had she been chosen about ten years from today. She is not too young... she is just too inexperienced.

The two of them (McCain and Palin) totally understand the importance of having someone who not only understands how important our troops are but how important it is to support them and protect them and our country. These two candidate's are perfect, because not only are they here to protect and support our country but they are here to protect and support our troops. McCain has the experience and the knowledge and Palin has the compassion and the knowledge to protect our country. These two, McCain and Palin know first hand that the need to protect our county and its people come first, and that is what a soldier and a mother have in common. I also like the fact that they do not want to depend on foreign energy. These two are not in the race for fans they are in it to protect.

Maybe the Republicans don't want someone with a lot of experience. After all, Georgie was pretty much a puppet for his daddy's old cronies and I'm pretty sure Cheney pulled the puppet strings. Maybe they just want a yes-woman to make their ugly, earth-raping practices more palatable to the public. ANWAR, anyone??

  • Is McCain serious? Does he realize the importance of the VP position - that person can become president and lead our nation. Our country needs someone who can navigate national and international issues. Our country needs someone who is at a point in their life when they can give all their energy to the four-year position. I'm a working mother and a teacher. I know what young children need. Even if their mom has a dozen nannies, she's still a critical person in their lives. I don't want a VP who has to take days off for ill children or parent conferences. If Palin is worthy - let her come back in twenty years with greater experience when her children are grown and she can give the country the time and attention it deserves. Then let her campaign across the country like Clinton and then let the country decide. If McCain can make this decision about a VP, I'm worried about the kind of decisions he'll make about all his cabinet members and all the critical issues facing our country today. She's a poor choice for right now and this choice almost makes a mockery of the presidential process. So sad and frightening for our country!!!!! Obama is the only real choice right now - He's smart! He's done the hard work in the Senate, law school, streets of Chicago. . . He's chosen a commendable VP candidate. He has tremendous, loving family support for his two children. He has vision. He's ready to make the United States a proud nation in the world once again - a nation that is trusted and looked up to across the world. He's ready to make a better life for all Americans. McCain has shown his true decision making powers.

  • i will be wrong 2 vote 4 Mc Cain just bcos she has a female VP when Mc Cain himself has stated earlier that the place of a VP in government is 2 attend funerals. It will be very sad that the ladies in america will vote 4 d republican party just bcos it choose a female VP,forgeting the economic woes they have left the country, the 4,380 service men and women that have lost their lives in a war that we wouldnt have entered in the first place, the dark future our children face in the present system continue, the deficit and lost of jobs we have found ourselves.AMERICANS, open your eyes...see more

  • you women will never be in office(on the president/vice-presidental ticket) because you can never come together, women represent 53% of the total population! if you ever came together as a gender you could totally own and control this country! but, the problem is you don't, if one party puts forth a female candidate then women back the party instead of the fact that she is a WOMAN!

  • Very desperate choice, what was he thinking? Women voted for Hillary because of her experience not because she's a woman. Mc.Cain did not think this thoroughtly before making his choice, and to add insult upon injury, he only mat her once.

  • I can't believe that McCain would choose a woman (to try to get the female "Hillary vote") who has no experience in this level of politics. If he wanted a female for the job, what about Condoleeza Rice who has at least a proven track record? What if McCain, who we all know has his share of health problems, is unable to fulfill his duties as the President? We will have a female President running the country who the majority of the population has never even heard of, and who has NO experience in foriegn policy or any any other policy for that matter. I am a woman and I would surely like to see a woman be president one day, but not someone that is unprepared to assume the duties involved in running this country, and especially in these very troubled times. It is unfortunate that with all of the qualified people able to uphold the title of Vice President, McCain has chosen a running mate who, by all standards, is totally incompetent. He is trying to win this presidential race by "playing the game". Will we ever have a President who truly cares and understands what the people of this nation want and need? Someone who will do what is "right" instead of what is "politically correct" for his campaign?

ps. I am also a registered Repubican

    • I feel your pain, but we all know that will never happen. But only because the nation as a whole is lazy and wont get off there asses to go and vote for the right person. If Obama loses we only have ourselves to blame. Register to vote and get your ass out there and make a difference instead of waiting for a friggin miracle to happen.

    • Do your research you neo-con clone.Palin has exec. experience(Gov.).the other 3 dont!also, Obama's been in the senate for 3 years...2 years of it campaining for the presidency, she's further to the right than Reagan!

  • Put it this way, if McCain wins the presidency and subsequently dies of old age shortly after(He's like a 100 right?) then we're going to have a inexperienced person running the country. Hilary was strong and I totally believe could've run the country, but I see Palin imploding from the stress of it all. McCain chose her simply for the women vote, plain and simple. And dont give me a line about how good she is. There are hundreds and I really mean hundreds of people who are more capable and experienced than Palin.. NIce woman, just not VP material. Give here another 10-15 years of politics and then we'll talk.

    • I am a woman and am TOTALLY offended by your comments...Imploding from the stress of it all!.she has 5 kids and one of them has Down's Syndrome.you MUST be a male or a woman who has never had children..you make me ill!
      anonymous anonymous 8/30/08

    • She has 5 kids? Big Friggin whoop. Wait til she has to deal with the whole USA. 5 kids will seems like heaven on earth. And with the whole down syndrom kid. Then she should stay home and take care of her child. He picked a Female for the vote end of case and get over it.

    • How dare you!! I have 8 kids and live on public assistance and let me tell you, if it werent for mothers like me who are there for their kids, while their 3 fathers have left, then this country would be in the toilet!

    • 8 kids and on public assistance? Here's a clue to you. Close your friggin legs or make the guy wear a condom. I'll give Palin this, she has 5 kids and isnt on public assistance. Public Assistance is a crutch for people. Why work when u get free money? Hell maybe I can get on it. And u said if it wasnt for people like u we'd be in the toilet? Lets see: without people with a crapload of kids living off the gov't then we'd be int he toilet? Sounds like the other way around to me. People like u are part of the problem not the solution

  • What was the McCain camp thinking? The VP position or is not an internship (learn as you go). Does she really have the adequate experience to navigate our country through this current mess?
    anonymous anonymous 8/31/08 Reply

  • She did not win the beauty contest, she did not win her bid for Lt Governor, she resigned from the Oil and Gas Commission, she did not effectively teach her daughter the value abstinence as a teen. Tell me again what makes her such a stellar choice. Perhaps her absence as a parent and her presence as a politician is the true evidence of her family values.

  • In order to get me to vote for McCain/Palin
You’d have to wrap me in chains, throw an
Abu Grab hood over my head, surround me with snarling vicious dogs, TASER my testicles and drag me to a voting booth:----
And then I’d pull the lever for the “BIG “O””
