John Edwards is planning to speak publicly for the first time since his bombshell admission to having an affair on ABC's "Nightline" on August 8, according to the Associated Press.

Edwards will speak solo at Hofstra University on September 8. The former Senator's wife, Elizabeth, had been scheduled to appear alongside him, but has canceled.

Edwards admitted to having an affair with a campaign worker, Rielle Hunter, but has denied fathering her infant daughter.
