Hand in hand, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston showed the nation Wednesday night their plans to marry. Bristol wore what appears to be an engagement ring and Levi revealed a tattoo on his ring finger that reads "Bristol."

Bristol, 17, was at the RNC tonight to watch her mother, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, accept the GOP nomination for Vice President.

  • Total hypocrisy - how dare someone who can't even control their own family run on a platform that wants to tell me what I can and can't do with my body! Seen it too often - Mom's too busy - daughter gets preg. Plus -how, exactly, does this show how...

  • It's sad that they are being pressured to marry so young in order for Palin to keep hold of the evangelical vote.

17 is too young to make such a big commitment, so I hope they at least extend the engagement long enough to make sure that it is not...

  • Two weeks ago we didn't even know these people. Now all of sudden the bruhaha begins. Look at todays teens, they think its o.k. to be pregnant out of wedlock so what's the big deal now. At least Sarah Palin didn't try to hide it. She's a proud...

  • Can we just support them and then stay out of it? They're making a bold decision with help from a supportive family...not our business.

  • People should leave them out of the election. They aren't running for position. Bristol should be there with her mom showing support and how wonderful for her boyfriend to be there too. The Palin family aren't embarrassed of Bristol's pregnancy and...

  • Good thing his future monster-in-law is a hockey mom, I don't think I would have been so pleasant if a hockey player pucked my 17 year old daughter.

    • Parents try to do everything they can and kids seem to do their own thing no matter how you bring them up. Palin is great and she is not a joke. The children of the candidates shouldn't even be discussed. It isn't anyones business.

    • Gosh, I'm a staunch Dem and even I think your comment is inane. She's 16 or 17 and did a huge f-up; it's not necessarily a reflection on the parents - it's part of growing up. Some of us get to adulthood in a bit better shape/situation than others....

  • I believe it's a wise decision that they decided to be married. I don't believe that Bristol being pregnant should be part of her mother's politics. This also shows America her mother's stand on pro-life. And also a mother can't always be aware of...

  • I personally don't think they should get married just because she is pregnant. There is so much that a couple has to learn about each other before jumping into marriage. Just because a baby is on the way does not mean that they have to get married....

    • Well maybe they do want to get married. And babies don't attach men to women. There are many men that just walk away. I think it's a wise decision that they are making by getting married. And not all marriages end in divorce. My parents got married...
