Matt Damon's Harsh words on Sarah Palin

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has denied that his controversial "lipstick on a pig" comment was any reference to Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin and accused John McCain's campaign of resorting to "lies and phony outrage."

Speaking this morning at an event in Norfolk, VA, Obama said the Republicans created a "made-up controversy" by suggesting that his use of the phrase "lipstick on a pig" was a sexist comment against Palin.

Obama also called for an end to personal attacks in the campaign so the candidates can focus on serious issues for "serious times."

On Tuesday, Obama took a dig at his Republican presidential rival by comparing McCain to George W. Bush, saying McCain would not change Washington D.C. as promised. "You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," Obama said.

Palin famously joked in her RNC speech: "I was just your average hockey mom. I love those hockey moms, you know, they say, 'What is the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.'"

McCain's campaign has accused Obama of "smearing" Palin in "offensive and disgraceful" comments.

  • If you are going to turn down a candidate because of not knowing where they stand, then you should turn down Obama. He has rarely stated specifics on the issues. Do you see him speaking about how he doesn't mind new born babies getting killed? Do...

  • I'm really sick of seeing and hearing about Sarah Palin, I think she is a terrible candidate for V.P and would like to see and hear more about the Obamas.

  • All this talk about Matt Damon's brilliant actuary tables and McCain's impending death. I wonder if he has gathered any statistics on the possibility that if elected, Obama could be killed by some nut for a JFK/MLK redux?

  • I totally agree on Obamas lack of any military experiance. My father served in the navy for 20 years and anyone with their lack of respect of what our military scares me.

  • I don't understand what you are saying. Did you mean 'their words' and what does the double negative 'don't have none' mean? Plus why did you post it so many times?

  • Barack Obama did not call Sarah Palin a pig. McCain used that remark for many years. That remark isn't about her.
  • Please inform me of Obama's experience? Matt Damon needs to stick to what he knows best and that is acting.

  • Just because she teaches abstinence doesn't mean she can control her daughter! I teach my daughters not to lie and they still tell me fibs...I'm a hypocrite?

  • Well, lipstick on a pig is more fitting for Bill Clinton folks but the funny part is the Dems are more upset because Repubs are finally using the same dirty tricks and antics they (Dems) have crafted for years, cause that's the only way they (again,...

  • What an ignorant remark. Just because someone doesn't want a school system to teach their child about birth control does not mean #1 that they haven't discussed it themselves and # 2 that their child is going to do what their parents have advised.

  • Amazing!! Doesn't Matt have Freedom of Speech? Why is everyone attacking him? Yeah, he's an actor, but still a U.S. citizen who has opinions just like all of us - as stated in these numerous comments. But why attack each other. Yes, America is...
