Barack Obama Cancels 'SNL' Appearance

Barack Obama has cancelled his highly-anticipated appearance on "Saturday Night Live" in consideration of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Ike, says Reuters.

"In light of the unfolding crisis in Texas, Sen. Obama has decided it is no longer appropriate to appear on 'Saturday Night Live' tomorrow evening," the Illinois senator's campaign said.

The Democatic presidential hopeful had reportedly planned on flying in from New Hampshire to appear in a sketch on the "SNL" season premiere, hosted by Michael Phelps.

  • I am extremely disappointed with President elect Obama. Change is not reflected in his inagural choice for delivering the prayer. As a health teacher I constantly advocate for gay students, as a sister of a gay person I am concerned that choosing this man is a step backward in uniting our country.

    but it does not matter, if she has a agenda or not one thing for sure Obama does not have one, and he has less experience than than Palin,

  • I don't blame him, there are more important things to focus on than SNL. I'm surprised that show is on anymore anyways, it went down the drain a long time ago. I honestly don't know anyone who watches it anymore.

  • I Understand that he wanted to show his support for the people that are involved with Hurrican Ike, However it just goes to show that he makes a commitment to do something but doesn't stick to it. I mean If he wanted to honor the victims of the Hurricane he shouldd've still went on the show and did the skit but take a moment to reflect on the situation and how he would like every American to help out the victims of Ike. This is what he should've done because he could've left after the skit to help out.

  • Grade school? That's EXACTLY what I've been thinking. I remember those elections. A jock would run and say stupid things, make stupid promises to get elected. He'd say, "If I'm elected, every day will be pizza day in the cafeteria. Recess time will be doubled. And I think now maybe I'll allow drilling for oil in our own schoolyard."
