Stars Shine Bright at Obama's Big Fundraiser

A group of big-name celebrity politicos turned out to a  Barack Obama fundraiser in Beverly Hills Tuesday night, where the presidential nominee raised $9 million for his presidential campaign and the Democratic Party!

The fundraiser, which set back attendees $28,500 per ticket, drew the likes of Jodie Foster, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Rock, Tobey Maguire and Will Ferrell, says the Associated Press.

The night’s festivities included a dinner at the Greystone Estate in Beverly Hills, followed by a concert by Oscar-winning icon Barbra Streisand at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel that cost $2,500 per ticket, the AP reports.

The astounding $9 million raised may reportedly break single-day presidential fundraising records.

Obama had this to say to the crowd about the nation’s economic status:

"It's reminded people that this is not a game. This is not a reality show, no offense to any of you," Obama said to a laughing crowd. "This is not a sitcom."

The bash was put on by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen of DreamWorks, says the paper.

  • I think this is absurd....I mean come on. NINE MILLION DOLLARS is a lot of money that could have gone to more important matters. It seems like these celebrities have let themselves get taken advantage of. Ignorance, maybe, or it could be some sort of self-gratitude that these people get by giving there money to the people that NEED it the least. There are a lot of people, charities , and orginazations out there that could use any part of the money that was raised....POLITICS in general is out of hand and I think has let people take their focus off of what really matters..This is a very sad thing....I give kudos to Obama for having such a likability amongst people... In my mind, though, was it not enough to leach off of the everyday American people to raise campaign money that he would allow himself to stoop to this kind of level?

  • Lady S. Did the same thing for President Clinton. What is the big deal. Because its Obama now. Ya'll just mad because McCain can't muster up this kind of support from your fav actors. Obama means something to them and its good to show weather he wins or loose. He has the support of the WHOLE colorful world that we live in.
