Hayden Panettiere's Dad Arrested For Punching Mom
Hayden Panettiere tried to cover up her dad's bad behavior last month by saying the reports of her pops punching her mom in the face were "blown way out of proportion by a sheriff who wanted his 15 minutes of fame." 

Unfortunately, that's not the way those fame-seeking police see it.

Alan Panettiere has been formally charged with misdemeanor battery after he allegedly assaulted his wife last month, the L.A. County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday. This incident occurred when the couple returned home from an event they attended with Hayden, and a fight ensued. The sheriff on the scene said Alan "struck his wife (Lesley Vogel) one or two times on the cheek causing bruising with a closed fist."

After he was released on bail, the Heroes star's dad told Extra the it was just a "misunderstanding" and that "nothing actually happened." 

Well, something's happening now. Alan is set to be arraigned on Oct. 11. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail.
