From The Daily Mail:
‘I drink moderately,’ she says. ‘I’ve tried drugs. I do like weed. I have a different outlook on marijuana than America does.
My best friend Sasha’s dad was Carl Sagan, the astronomer. He was the biggest pot smoker in the world and he was a genius.
‘I’ve never been a major smoker, but I think America’s view on weed is ridiculous. I mean – are you kidding me? If everyone smoked weed, the world would be a better place.’
She swiftly adds a caveat. ‘I’m not talking about being stoned all day, though. I think if it’s not used properly, it can hamper your creativity and close you up inside.’
To be fair to Dunst, I did read the whole article and can understand (to a point) why she feels weed can be a bit of an escape. In the piece, she talks about growing up being a child actor, her feelings on her parents divorce, the pain she experienced with past relationships, and the depression she felt after her last movie, Marie Antoinette, was torn apart by critics. It sounds like the hard times are starting to finally get to Dunst, and she understandably is finding it hard to cope with her troubles under the world’s spotlight.
Having Johnny Borrell dump her for his ex-girlfriend after she paid about £20,000 (about $40,000) for flights and accommodation for the Tokyo Spiderman 3 premiere isn’t going to help matters much.
