Just 3 months after his history making performance at Shea Stadium, Billy Joel is back in the national spotlight. And this time, he's rockin' for a cause.

New York's own Piano Man, Billy Joel, is teaming up with the Jersey born Boss, Bruce Springsteen, for a one-night rock 'n roll extravaganza at Hammerstein Ballroom to benefit Democratic party presidential nominee Barack Obama. Joel and Springsteen’s Columbia Records label-mate, and Grammy Award winning artist, John Legend, will also take part in the historic benefit bash that is currently fetching $500 for a balcony seat and $10,000 for a front row view.

The benefit concert at Hammerstein is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, the day after Senator Obama's final debate with Senator John McCain at Long Island's Hofstra University.

John Legend, who endorsed Barack Obama earlier this year, premiered "If You're Out There," a new song from his forthcoming album Evolver (available October 28), during a set at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado in August. Legend has said, "If You're Out There" reflects the themes of hope and change, responsibility and leadership, and commitment to a better tomorrow expressed in the principles of Barack Obama.
