'DWTS': Rocco DiSpirito Spared, Thanks to Misty May-Treanor!

Rocco DiSpirito and his pro partner Karina Smirnoff would have been ousted from "Dancing with the Stars" this week if Misty May-Treanor hadn't bowed out due to injury, said the judges on Tuesday night's elimination-free results show.

“You’ve got to raise the game, come back to impress,” Bruno Tonioli urged the near-evictees, while Len Goodman assured the masses that Misty and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy would not have been going home, had she been healthy: “Misty had the potential to get all the way through to the final,” Len said.

In a new twist, this week’s scores will be combined with next week’s -- meaning the low-scoring duos will have a tougher mountain to climb when they take the dance floor next Monday.

Aside from Rocco and Karina, one such duo who’ll need to bring their A-game are Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas, who were declared safe at the top of the results show, despite posting the lowest point total for the third week in a row.

As usual the night's musical guests eased some of the tension in the air. Jennifer Hudson belted out a powerful number that got siblings Julianne and Derek Hough footloose. And the Rockettes wowed with their trademark high-kicks and thousand-watt smiles.

  • I think Rocco had given it the best that he could.
Some of the other celebrity dancers (can't remember who) had said in the past that Rocco had been "the most improved".
When he was voted off, it did not seem to have bothered him (as it obviously did for his fans).
the times that he was there. He is, no doubt, definitely a gentleman for showing that he can dance . People don't know unless they try. And he did.

  • Contrary to some opinions, Rocco can dance and his joyful and engaging personality was evident with DWTS. All he needs is some extra time and a good teacher. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do anything because you can.

  • I am very concerned with Misty May's well being, but the well being of DWTS is also under my scrutiny. I don't know if i can honestly take another week of Cloris "entertaining" on the dance floor. This is a contest of technical dance not being a rodeo clown. I know that Rocco can cook it up in the kitchen, but when the heat is on I don't know that he can deliver on DWTS. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for next week!

  • I commend her too - but enough is enough! I'm tired of her. This show use to be classy - but not anymore. Cloris has turned it into a joke. I feel sorry for her partner. He's good and it's a shame that he has to dance with someone that's making a joke of ballroom dancing and the whole idea of the show. Send her home - please.
