"The Insider" confirms the news that actor Ryan O'Neal and his son Redmond have both been charged with felony drug possession, but a source tells "The Insider" that Ryan is innocent.

 

The father and son were arrested on September 17 after drugs were allegedly found at the family's Malibu home. A source tells "The Insider" that any drugs allegedly found at Ryan's home could not possibly be Ryan's because the 67-year-old actor is taking prescription medication for his leukemia which, due to the possibility of harmful interactions, prohibit him from taking illegal drugs.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office tells "The Insider" that Ryan has been charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, while Redmond is charged with the same (felony meth possession) and also two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one misdemeanor count of illegal possession of pepper spray.

The pair will be arraigned on November 13 in Malibu.

  • O'Neal should have taken his kids out of Hollywood long ago. Raised them some place normal. All of his children have had substance abuse problems. Get the heck out of Hollywood.

  • Makes me so sad for all involved. Really sad for Farrah, she needs her "family' to be supportive and her safe place to go...this makes me most upset and sad for her.

  • Get that boy some help. I think time in jail would actually be life saving for Redmond. Hopefully he will get convicted and be forced to do jail time which will keep him off drugs. So sad. His poor mother is sick with cancer and has to take on this.
