Dennis Quaid Says Twins Were Different 'Right Off The Bat'

The differences between sons and daughters are something most parents to both sexes will often marvel at, but with boy-girl twins, those differences are magnified even more says Dennis Quaid. During a Tuesday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 54-year-old actor -- dad to Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, 11 ½-months -- said that "right off the bat" his twins were a case study in opposites. "She's walking and going one way, he's climbing and going the other way," Dennis said. "It's nuts." Furthermore, while Zoe "bats her eyes" when she wants something or uses her "verbal skills," Boone grunts and groans. "Which is what I do," Dennis joked.

The twins are "doing great" following their Heparin overdose as newborns, and Dennis said that he and wife Kimberly Buffington Quaid consider themselves "so lucky" as a result. The couple credit their faith for the full recovery Boone and Zoe have enjoyed  "We had a lot of people praying for them, and I really am convinced that that's what got them through," Dennis said.

Jack Henry, Dennis' 16-year-old son with ex-wife Meg Ryan, is also doing well and at 6' 2" -- he is a force to be reckoned with! "I was really nice to him growing up, because I knew he was going to be tall," Dennis joked. His teenaged son recently received his drivers license, and is an actor-in-the-making, having fallen in love with the drama department at his high school. Dennis said that he wouldn't do anything to disuade Jack from pursuing a career in entertainment. "I want all my kids to do whatever they love doing the best, and I want them to figure out a way to get paid for it," Dennis said with a laugh. "It's one of the keys to life."
