Geri Halliwell to pen children's books

Geri Halliwell is no longer writing song lyrics, but rather children's books. Inspired by her daughter, Bluebell Madonna, 11 months, the former Spice Girl has signed a deal with Macmillan Children's Books to write a six-part series around a 9-year-old protagonist by the name of Ugenia Lavender, who like Bluebell is named after a flower.   Geri says she has always harbored literary dreams, citing C.S. Lewis, Enid Blyton and Oscar Wilde as her major influences, and says creating Ugenia was "an adventure."
Writing for me feels like home. I've always written - at school I loved writing stories and creating mini-worlds where anything can happen. As a Spice Girl I wrote lyrics for many of our hits and have continued to do so in my solo career.
The collection will be published between May and October 2008.
