Though he may lead a live of privilege, Matt Damonvows to teach his daughters about those less fortunate as they grow older.
"The way you have to parent them is to show them the world. Explaining the world can only go so far," he said Thursday at a fund-raiser for the OneXOne children's charity, held in San Francisco. "You can read about devastation every morning -- it's on the front page of the newspaper -- but when you actually go there and see it, you realize this isn't something you can turn the page on."
Matt, who has done work with Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiticharity in the past, says that poverty and homelessness are difficult topics to talk about with his young daughters. "It's a hard thing to explain to a kid," he said. "And it is also unbelievable the way other kids are forced to live."
The actor says he hopes to take his girls on future overseas missions.
