Matt Damon is opening up about why exactly he decided to step away from his A-list day job until the year's end.

"I took time off from acting until the end of the year to be with my family and enjoy our new daughter," Matt told People magazine at a Barack Obama rally in Florida. "But it is my responsibility to thank the American people for taking an interest in the political process. And in the next two days, I am asking them not to get complacent," he said of the importance of voting.

This August, Matt and his wife Luciana welcomed a baby girl, Gia Zavala, who joined big sisters Isabella, 2, and Alexa, Luciana's daughter from a previous relationship.

  • I just like how the celebrities think they know so much about politics. The majority of celebrities live a different lifestye than the american majority and believe they are better than that majority as so does the left wing of politics. Obama is a joke and will tax everyone, no matter their income.

  • Everything has come so easy for Matt that I'm sure the next step in his career will be in politic's...look at his past record and rethink where does he want to go next! Actor, Acadamy Winner, Writer, World Food Crisis, How did he get there? (Not American Food Crisis). He has never felt the pinch of the American people, yet give's advice on politic's and then get's involed in politic's! What's the next logical step for him? He's made his face and act's well known in the political circle among some of the most powerful people in our country! He'll be able to go where ever he want's...10 year's Matt for Pres? OMG!
